My enquiry is If I have the current version of Open Office and I want to upgrade to Version 2.
Do I have to remove the original version before installing Ver. 2 or does Ver.

If you are asking if your wordprocessing, spreadsheet files etc will be preserved - yes they will. You do not need to remove your existing version (unless you are a volunteer testing unstable builds, which I guess you are not). The new install will update your existing program files.
