Subject: Re: [users] ???
Hi Dave,
There is something very wrong. The following was spell checked and came
up with all correct!
Larst weke i courent eevein speel ofiser now i aree wone.
Phill,
I copied the above sentence and ran it through the spell checker in OOo
V2.0.1 and this is what I ended up with:
last week i courent eevein spell ofiser now i are one.
Then I put it in MS Word 2000 and this is what I finished with:
Last week I courent even spell officer now I are wone.
If the correct word was NOT in the suggested spelling, I just selected
"Ignore." Some mispelled words are too far off the original word that
spellcheckers cannot suggest the correct version of the word. I would
suggest you delete the "user's dictionary" and retry the sentence again.
Spellcheckers are nice to have but do not always suggest the correct
spelling.
Ray
Thanks,
Regards,
Phill (Geraldines husband/spellchecker/grammar fixer etc.) :-)

Hi, could you tell me how I can add more words to the spell check

spell check doesn't pick it up.
Hope you can help.

G'day Geraldine,
When you say a word is wrong, could it be that it is deemed correct in
another form of "theoretically" ;) the same language (eg. US "color"
versus Aussie "colour") ? If this is the case, you might want to install
the OOo Australian (or Pommy :( ) dictionary from "Menu -> File ->
Wizards -> Install new dictionary...".
Another possibility is that you have inadvertently added the word to
your "user" dictionary. In which case go to "Menu -> Tools -> Options ->
Language Settings -> Writing Aids -> User Defined Dictionaries" and if
you find the word there just remove it.
If the above doesn't apply, tell us what the word is and maybe we can
come up with a solution. OOo dictionaries can be edited, but it is not a
job for the inexperience or "faint hearted".
Please reply to [email protected] only.
Hope this helps.
Dave
