Yes, you can delete the text once found en mass, but the footnotes remain, now appearing only as numbers at the bottom of the page followed by empty text. In order to delete the footnotes themselves you must still manually jump to the actual footnote anchor in the text and delete the anchor.
What we would like is a way of searching for these bookmark footnote anchors and deleting them all at once (and then the footnotes themselves would also vanish).
