Not too sure there is a question in there.... My opinion ( from one
who doesn't really use the version feature) is that anything that is
implemented in OOo typically is molded by the community of users.
Therefore if it starts to go off track, those that use the feature
will I'm sure petition those that decide to get it back on track.

I think this makes is safer than other features of MS which may go
ways opposite to those of there users.
