Thanks but windows/98 doesn't have a concept of permissions. Anyone can do
anything. If there is some registry entry to turn this off I could add it
directly.

W98 eh? Check whether or not you have permission to write to C:
\Programs and Files\OpenOffice.org2.0.1\ I suspect that the register
item is not being updated.
