I'm wondering if anyone here can help me get to the bottom of a particulary frustrating problem.

Regulary when I'm using either the Open Office Writer or Calc applications, I'm often experiencing a situation when Open Office will all of a sudden seize up completely when I'm in the middle of typing something. This is happening with enough regularity to cause unspeakable frustration in my work.

When this happens, All Open Office applications that are currently running will stop responding altogether, then a few seconds later, the Windows Task Bar will also stop responding and then any other open applications will also stop responding to mouse clicks creating the illusion that windows has completely frozen. From here, I can still go ALT + CTRL + DEL to bring up the task manager and when I proceed to kill all Open Office applications which are currently running, Windows will suddenly spring back into life along with any other applications that may have been opened at the time.

I've tried updating video card drivers for my nVidia FX5200 Video card, applying all the critical patches from Windows Update, updated the JVM to the latest version and have even totally uninstalled Open office and reinstalled it fresh, but none of this has solved the problem. I'm really at a loss as to what to do next other than biting the bullet and going back to using MS Office.

Current System specs.

Many thanks for any help.
