No, its not possible. If you want to save a calc worksheet as .xls,
you cannot add a password. The main reason is that OOo does not
subscribe to the weak protection scheme employed by Excel (and other
M$ products).

Excel uses easily cracked/subverted schemes which OOo can read (with
the correct password), but will not use to protect documents.
