In OOo 2.0.1 there is a File>New>Labels wizard, and I'm reasonably sure
it's been there since OOo 1.1.x (because I used the very similar
business cards wizard).

It contains some common label layouts already.

PS. I had no trouble with printing the business cards. The alignments
worked perfectly.
