There is an icon in the Formating toolbar which does this: Numbering
On/Off. (This toolbar contains the Bold, Italic, and Underline icons.) The
specific icon you want to use has the Roman numerals I and II on the left and
lines represent text on the right.
I have a style, Numbered List. The icon screws it up.
