I'm a little rusty on Windows, but I think if you right click on the
icon for the shortcut and select properties, it will let you see and
change what it actually executes when you click on it normally. I
remember having to fool around with this a bit to get it to work with
parameters like -write, You may have to put the whole thing in double
quotes to get it to work.

But my question is how do I see the parameter when looking at the shortcut?

This may be more of an XP question but it concerns OpenOffice.org. When I
look at the shortcuts for running the program it seems that Calc, Writer,
Base, etc all point to the same program folder but there is no program
name indicated. What tells it the module to start?
A parameter.
soffice -calc
soffice -writer
etc...
soffice -help , will give you a list of the avaliable parameters.
Javier.
