Yes, that's exactly what I did, I entered 1-2,4,5,3,6 in that field, but it printed 1-6 instead. That's what this is all about.

Good luck with your bass!

I'd bet your printer dialog has an option something like "Print Selected Pages". In it, you should be able to enter ranges of pages as comma separated lists with the pages in any order. I'm pretty sure my HP Deskjet driver on 98se will do that. YMMV.

BTW, I just got a bass and one of these days I'd like to learn enough music theory, etc. to do a little bit of what you're doing.

No, actually I am using Windows 98. I am a musician with myh own studio at home, and my idea is to make things a bit easier for me. The machine I work with can save 100 different "setups" of the mixer and built in effects. They are saved as "scenes". You can play back 24 tracks simultaneously, and each of them contains 16 so called "v-tracks" which are useful for additional takes and things like that. Maybe you recorded a song and now you want to make a different version of it. Maybe remove the vocals and add another instrument to make it an instrumental, or maybe you just have new fresh ideas that you hadn't when you recorded the song earlier... Well, now I wanted to create a template project from which I can start a new project, without having to tape track names, scene names etc. So I opened a new document in OOo Calc to make some different sheets containing information about this template: All the 384 track names, about 40-50 scenes with descriptions and names, so I can easily see where to find what a little bit easier than searching in my recording machine, suggestions about what microphones and instruments to connect to which input, so that I can use the pre defined scenes, tracknames and things like that.

So why double sided? Well, ordinary A4 papers always get distroyed, covered with stuff like coffe (not in my case since I don't drink stuff like that), or they just disappear or hide among other papers etc, so I decided to use my laminator. Then I could just have them easily reachable under the machine or somewhere else near the place where I work with the whole thing. Much easier to handle. And I don't want a lot of them, 6 were definitely too many I thought, so I found that double sided was the way to go, and I also printed on a litte thicker paper (100 g/m², instead of the more usual 80 g/m²). So now I have it all safe from fluids and from get folded etc. Works great. If they get dirty or greasy I can just clean them with water and some kind of detergent. And I only have three of them, not six.

So all I have to do now, is to make that project template so it will follow the "rules" I already set up with OOo calc, way out of topic on this mailing list...

Anyway, I solved my problem by just sorting the papers manually before printing the back sides, but I just thought that it would be convenient if, when I enter things like "1-2,4,5,3,6" in the print dialog, the pages are printed in the order I typed, without being sorted to "1-6". Besides, it couldn't be too hard to change. Just skip the sorting...

I'm not too swift with page numbering, but are you trying to print a brochure? Writer supports that, but I don't know how you would do that in calc. Trying to embed the sheet in a writer document might be possible, but it's a pretty convoluted solution.

I don't know what OS you are using, but if it's Linux, the print "command" lp has options for page ranges, so a script could easily be written to do what you want.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I found that one too now, when looking for it, but in this particular case it wouldn't help me much, but I guess it will be useful in the future, now that I know about it...

In my particular case I wanted page 6 to be the back side of page 1 so I would still have to sort the printed pages manually and put it back in the printer. But I guess that now, when I know this, I will have that in mind when starting to create anything from the beginning...

I haven't booted Windoze lately, but my printer dialog for my HP Deskjet contains a "Features" page which includes the option "Book" (for portrait) and "Tablet" for landscape double sided printing in software. (I have to shuffle the pages with the 180 turn as well.)

Hi!

I made a few simple spreadsheets with calc, all in the same file on different tabs, if you understand what I mean. I defined some print areas ("utskriftsområden" in Swedish, I don't know what you call them in English...) and I previewed the whole thing. I realized that my work would be printed on 6 pages and I realized that if I could print them in a different order, I could have 3 double sided papers printed. In this case I would like the page order to be 1,2,4,5,3,6. If I insert only three papers (A4) and when they all are printed I just turn them 180° and reinsert them in my printer, I will have page 1 and 6 on one paper, the next will be page 2 and 3 and the last one page 4 and 5.

So I selected the option to print only specified pages, and in the input field I typed 1-2,4,5,3,6. Then I clicked the Print button and my printer started to print. Now I realized that the actual order of the pages is 1-6. All of the 6 pages was printed but they were also sorted! Why?

Maybe this is a Windows 98 issue rather than an OOo issue, but I don't think so since the print dialog looks a lot different than it does when I print from other applications. Adobe reader has their own print dialog where you can select reverse print order and a lot more so I thought that this dialog was the OOo one and maybe I just could do the same thing by just typing the order I want, like in the example above. Of course I could solve my problem very easily by just print twice. First time pages 1,2 and 4, then turn the papers 180°, then print page 5 and after that print the pages 3 and 5.

But wouldn't it be nice if the thing I tried above was possible? Maybe I should file this as a wish for a future feature? Or maybe this already works in 2.0? I still use 1.1.5, due to speed issues (old PC of mine).
