I usually print to file so I can go on to something else without waiting for my slow printer, etc. It works fine, but every time I select it, it forgets all the settings from the last print and I have to do a bunch of dialog stuff over and over.

What I would like OOo (1.1.5 or 2.0.x - Linux X86) to do is:
When I want to Print to file, I would press a button on a tool bar - probably linked to a macro. Then it would do a print, select "To file", set the starting directory to $HOME/tmp, and turn off automatic file type extensions (don't add the ".ps" on the end of the name.) Then, I would like it to name the print file "01" and end, waiting for me to make last changes and execute the print.

If it was really spiffy, instead of "01", it would read the directory and suggest the next sequential number for the file name. E.G. if I already had 01 and 02, it would suggest 03.

I would use this all the time because I do my actual printing through my duplex printing emulator (duplexpr on sourceforge/freshmeat) which can print a number of print jobs as a batch printing all the fronts first then all the backs with only one flip/reinsert of the paper back into the (deskjet) printer.

I tried recording a keyboard macro, and got it to always save the file as $HOME/tmp/01, but it executed immediately and overwrote any previous file of the same name.

I have a long background in programming, but have no knowledge of OOo macros. I could do small modifications to a macro that was somewhat close to what I want, but I do not have time to become a proficient macro programmer.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Joe
