I tried that, but it doesn't  change anything.

Even if the compared images are the same size on your screen, if the
image has been scaled down in the document but the document has been
zoomed up so it looks the same size as the original, this could make it
more blurry.

I checked to make sure the document and the image were at 100% and they are. But the image is still much sharper in an image view than in OOo. Then again, maybe my image viewer is the one to blame? ... Nope, I tried another viewer and I still see a big difference. It's as if the image in OOo had a thin, smoke screen in front of it. The image is paler and not as crisp as the original.
