I think "TOOLS > OPTIONS > OpenOffice.org Calc > SORT LISTS" may be what
you are looking for. It allows you to create a custom list to be
completed using the drag handle. To try a default list, type sun in A1
of a blank sheet and drag down.

The help reference says "Only text can be used for sort lists,no
numbers." This is not correct, alpha-numeric values can be used, they
are just treated as text values.
