To Mr. Singleton: What is your opinion of Scribus as an alternative to
Publisher?

Not as such but OOo is very flexible. For example, Newsletters are
easily created in OOo and are quite good. Please have a look at the
Newsletter template available from
http://documentation.openoffice.org/Samples_Templates/
