May I suggest you try 2.0.2rc1 from
ftp://ftp.linux.cz/pub/localization/OpenOffice.org/devel/680/OOB680_m1/Build-1 
in deb format. Pavel builds these for situations like yours. If these work then 
you can go back to troubleshooting or not as suits you
