Maybe it will come as a surprise to you, but I completely agree with you on
this paragraph. Unfortunately X11 is not that native as Java/Cocoa
framework on Mac OS X, so Neo can sometimes be much better choice for pure
Mac OS X users. This is fact and I never said a word against it.

And it does _not_ come as a surprise to me. Which brings me to the conclusion that I already wrote in another mail: your nitpicking is pointless.

OpenOffice.org Mac OS X porting team would be happy to accept any work
making the OpenOffice.org even better on Mac OS X, but unfortunately we can't simply grab the enhancements made for Neo. There are two types of reasons: technical and license issues. Technical issues are solvable by both teams but unfortunately OpenOffice.org team can't do anything with
license issue because we (the Mac OS X porting team) are bound by the
OpenOffice.org license which is GNU LGPL right now.

You know exactly that Luby has given code to OOo to fix bugs etc. This is public knowledge. The fact that he does not want his work abused by proprietary (closed) forks is his choice and has nothing to do with OOo proper.

Maybe the GPL keeps you from using code, but at least it guaranties that the code is _never_ locked into proprietary forks. What you seem to miss. And if Openffice is about something, it _is_ about openness, not about the possibility to close the source when it is practical to do so.

I really find some OOo developers exceedingly naive. You prefer to pick on NeoOffice for licensing issues because you can't grab their code, but you would never complain about Sun although they are releasing code that you can't use. How do you call that ? Hypocrisy ? Cowardice ? You don't want to complain to Sun because their move is providing you with the moment of glory that you can't have otherwise ? There is another adjective for that: pathetic.

Now maybe you could return to the dev lists and leave users alone. We don't need your FUD here.
