Hi,
I have a HP 600 Printer, with vertical bottom printing. Using the setup information in
the "Help" section, the envelope printing comes out in very small print and
horizontal, not vertical. This printer works OK with MicrosoftWord97. Can you help? Thank
you.
I would say if you haven't done these things, check them:
- I assume you created the envelope by creating a text document, then
choosing Insert > Envelope, then clicking New Document.
- In the Envelope window, check the Printer tab and be sure the right
orientation setting is selected at the top of the windwo.
- In the Envelope window, check the Format tab and be sure the right
type of envelope is selected, like Envelope 10.
- Check all the settings in the Format tab, to be sure the positions are
correct, and click on the Edit buttons to make sure that's not where the
small font formatting is coming from
- Check your printer settings to see what shape document it's expecting.
Be sure it's set up to print on envelopes, and the same envelope size
that OpenOffice.org is set up for.
If it still doesn't work, switch gears to changing the created document
itself:
- Once you've created the envelope document, choose Format > Page and in
the Page tab, make sure the Format list at the top of the window still
shows the right envelope type.
- In the same page setup window, trying switching from portrait to
landscape or vice versa, then print, to see if that works.
Once you've got it working, save it as a template and use it again and
again, don't create a new one. ;> (You probably had that figured out
ALL by yourself....) Choose File > Templates > Save, pick a category,
name the template, click OK. Then choose File > New > Templates and
Documents, choose the Templates icon, the category like My Templates,
and double-click your envelope template.
I've got an article on envelopes here. The same blog also includes two
envelope templates.
