The JDBC and ODBC drivers are "registered" and the New/Database dialogue indicates they're installed and working when I click [Test].

I think I'm having a problem setting up the JDBC connection to the database, and the URL you referred to doesn't answer that specifically enough to allow me to do it correctly.

In the Datasource URL box, I've typed in the path to the database, and also tried "Localhost: databasename" (without quotes); neither works.

For JDBC driver class I've been using "com.mysql.jdbc.Driver" without the quotes.

I've searched high and low for info about what should go in the Datasource URL box, but can't find a thing, so I'm just guessing on that one. The JDBC driver class string is based on database tips and tricks on the MySQL site.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm a relative newbie to MySQL, but have been using OO for some time.
Just upgraded to OO 2.x and installed MySQL 5.0.X (neither are beta
versions).

I have several MySQL databases, and would like to use OO to generate
reports from those existing databases, but am unable to connect to the
DBs. Both are nothing fancy, just single tables. I've followed the
spartan directions in OO Help, and the ODBC and JODBC connections
indicate they're loaded.

I've searched the MySQL and OO web sites for specific assistance, but
can't find anything that helps.

Can anyone here point me in the right direction?

Did you follow the directions on http://dba.openoffice.org ?
