I am using version 2.0 of open office. In the calc application, I
notice the following problem.
If I type in the following text into a cell:
=SUMD8:D10)
I see a pop-up window correctly telling me that the formula is wrong
(the problem here is that the open parentesis is missing). However, the
correction that the pop-up suggests, is something like =SUMD8:D10.
The end result is, whether I hit yes or no on the pop-up window, the
value of the cell will still show an error (#NAME? is displayed in the
cell).
I would expect the pop-up window to:
a) show SUM(D8:D10) as the proposed change (with both sets of
parenthesis) and
b) correctly reflect a real (non-error) value (something other than
#NAME?) if I select YES to accept the proposed change.

P.S. FYI, overall I've had very few problems with this software. I'm
glad I'll never have to pay for excel again :-)

Please file a bug report on the web site by creating an account, logging

I agree, it should suggest the proper fix as you mentioned.
