Strange. What happens when you open your ODT file, then "Edit" -> "Select All" and "File" -> "New" -> "Text Document" and then "Edit" -> "Paste" ? Is the spell check then working ? Maybe it is a bug with 2.0.0. 2.0.2 will be available in a week or two.
