I have filed in or log on, your openoffice.org, some time in dec 2005, the point was to be able to download a panorama of Tennis in Dubai sent to me from a friend in Toronto, and she said it was through your Openoffice that I could download Microsoft programs, for FREE. I am 85 years old, and way away of working gal, retired, but I do enjoy having a PC since I was 84, I gave myself for my birthday!
I did log in this morning but cannot find the link to go to powerpoint.

OpenOffice.org is a free, open-source office suite which can largely be used in place of Microsoft office. Unlike Microsoft Office, it is a single application program rather than a number of application programs.

One of the sub-applications of OpenOffice.org is called Impress. Impress corresponds to Microsoft PowerPoint and will both read and write PowerPoint files and allows you to create your own PowerPoint files. So the Impress module in OpenOffice.org should allow you to view the files you were sent.

You can download OpenOffice.org from http://download.openoffice.org/2.0.1/index.html I advise picking a version that includes JRE. From the "Select your download site" list box choose any site you wish. Usually ones closer to you will tend to download to you more quickly. If one site doesn't work, just try another.

A new icon should appear, probably on your desktop, though that may depending on what downloader you are using. Click on the icon and OpenOffice.org will install. During installation it will give you the option of associating PowerPoint and other MS Office files with OpenOffice.org. In your case, I reccomend selecting to association PowerPoint files with OpenOffice.org, and probably also association Excel files and MS Word files, unless you already have MS Word or Excel on your PC.

Once installed in this way, you should be able to open and view the PowerPoint file you were sent by clicking on its icon or by opening Impress within OpenOffice.org, selecting File -> Open, and finding an selecting the file.
