If you're using Windows, various tweaking programs will let you hide the
mouse cursor while typing. That would be a Windows-wide setting,
presumably. I don't have my computer set that way so I don't know if
OpenOffice.org honors the setting.
Tweaking programs include Microsoft's own TweakUI, X-Setup (I don't
remember the company's name for that one), and several utility packages
such as TuneUp Utilities or Advanced System Optimizer. If you already
have one or more of these programs on a computer, you can test to see if
Writer (or the rest of OOo) will honor the setting.
