Please explain the procedure for updating from OO 1.9.79 to 2.0.1.
Thank you.
It *should* go like this:
- Uninstall OOo 1.9.79
- Install OOo 2.0.1
However, in reality, it goes more like this:
- Uninstall OOo 1.9.79
- Open 'regedit' ( Start ==> Run command ==> regedit )
- Delete ALL references to soffice, oowriter, oocalc, ooimpress, etc
- Close regedit
- Install OOo 2.0.1
You can then open Windows Explorer and try clicking on Office documents
to see if they will open. You may have to retrain Explorer ( and other
applications, eg email client ) to use the new installation - if you
didn't delete everything properly in the registry, things will still
look for OOo 1.9.79.
Hopefully someone will have a look at
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=45477 so people who are
upgrading from a previous version don't have to make dangerous changes
to the Windows registry just so they can use the latest installed
version of OOo.
