As for the files, you must have a faster computer. Mine takes
about 3 minutes.

I wrote earlier that in my case, I modify a 7mb Word and save it to
sxw/odt in NO/OOo with a G4 powerbook with 700+mb ram and 667mhz, all
this in about 30secs.
Since you seem to have superior specs, the problem seems to lie in
the file itself.
Have you tried with other documents ?
Ideas about getting OO 2.x to run on my Mac?
In fact somebody started a thread a short while ago about such a
problem.
