Still no joy as there is no offer to cancel. system seems to look as if it
is already trying to recover the first document without doing anything.  As
said previously can reopen  openoffice 2.0 and it continues as if nothing
untoward happened. It is just impossible to close the recovery screen other
than with contol alt del which closes all OO applications
