Of course, "Automatic" isn't really an icon set like the others are.
That selection tells OOo to pick the most appropriate icon set based on
which window manager you're using at the time. So far it only affects
Gnome and KDE - that is, according to the announcement a day or two ago.

If I choose Gnome for my login session on Linux, OOo will pick
"Industrial" for me. If I switch to KDE, it will presumably pick a
different one (maybe that one is Crystal because I can't imagine
Industrial would be visually compatible with KDE).

I believe so. I don't know what icon set is chosen for KDE (which are
generally more colourful than Gnome icons).
