OpenOffice.org will not effect your install of MS Office. The only thing you might want to be aware of is - when you install OpenOffice.org - it will ask you if you want to associate MS Office file formats with OOo. Just don't check those boxes then you'll be fine. Even if you do check those boxes, all that will do is make your MS Office files default to open in OOo, (which can easily be changed back).
