What OS and version? I will guess Windows of some description because
what you describe sounds very much like the reverse of the association
problem described in the faqs ( see http://tinyurl.com/gh6b6 ) Quick fix
may be simply to use Windows Explorer to locate your various files,
select one and right-click to get the Open With dialogue and enable
that.
