Yes, Insert - File will only give you text documents.

There are several ways that you can insert a Draw file:

- copy&paste directly from Draw to Writer
- Insert - Object - OLE Object - Create from file
- Insert - Floating Frame

Inserting an OLE from a file allows the option of linking to the file,
so subsequent changes to the drawing will reflect in the document.
Floating frames are for HTML documents only I believe.
