[users] writer for russian

What am I to do, in order to open or to write a document in russian? I have 
marked the respective options in the "Spracheinstellungen" box, but nothing 
came out of it
.
When I tried to open a (ms word) document in russian, it apeared in hebrew (!) 
letters.
 I badly need your help!
