We use Gentoo at home as well. We can't get a JRE to be installed and
recognized on AMD64, so none of the wizards work as they require JAVA.
What is your architecture? I'd also search the Gentoo forums as they are
fantastic for help and how to's.

I'm on an Athlon, with a working JRE, but that Java problem would make
sense, since for some unknown reason, OO doesn't recognize the existence
of my Java, even though every other program on my system does.
Possibly dumb question but have you use Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org
Java ? If you have the Use java checkbox enabled, OOo searches and
finds what you have. Sometimes takes awhile.
Yes, I have. OOo did not recognize the installed Sun JRE until I
installed yesterday's update to the installation source code package.
The wizards work just fine now.
Bill: Do you mean an update to the source code package from Gentoo?
Cause then our might work to. Or, did you install from a download at ooo?
