I concur with what you've said. One name for such a feature, which would give a clue both as to the similarity to Reveal Codes and to the differences, would be "Reveal XML". In the typical use case, the user does not know why the formatting looks wrong, which attributes associated with which text need to be examined or changed, and even usually has an inadequate (or outright wrong!) model of how the formatting works. One possible implementation would be to just display the actual XML of the file. Even if you weren't allowed to edit the raw XML, being able to see it could give a quick idea of what you needed to change.
