Open the Draw file then select and copy&paste to Writer is another way.

True - and weird.

You can do it indirectly by resizing (scaling) the frame in writer using
the shift+drag on the green handle at bottom-right of the selected frame
in Writer. First, use this to make the frame smaller. Then double click
to open the Draw OLE. Resize the Draw OLE frame to expose more/all of
the drawing. Then click outside and rescale the Writer frame as before.

I don't know what rationale there might be for this, unless it is really
a bug.
