Microsoft will periodically do automatic update unless you turn off that
feature. If they recently completed an update, it may have simply reset
your file associations. If OOo is installed correctly, you should still
be able to access you work by opening first the application and then
opening the file from within the application. Most casual Office users
will open the file from Explorer or my documents and that only works by
file associations and is technically not the best way to access the
file.

If the files will not open from within OpenOffice, there may be
something wrong with your install of OpenOffice- Especially if they will
open correctly in MS Office, which has a weaker ability to open damaged
files.

If it is simply something wrong with the file associations and
OpenOffice is fine, just go into Explorer and change the file
associations back to OpenOffice.

Subject: All Hell Has Broken Loose on My Computer!

What the hell is going on?

I go to My Documents and find that almost every document that had been
in Open Office is now back in Microsoft Word and I'm having one hell of
a time getting my work done!

I'm went and reinstalled OpenOffice 2 and still the damn documents are
in Word! Did those assholes at Microsoft find I was using OpenOffice and
screw up everything?

I'm a former consumer investigative reporter for Post Newsweek TV and do
NOT need this aggravation!

What I do to fix this ASAP?

Thanks,
Hugh Simpson
