In MSAccess one can actualy show images in the formfield. Isn't this

Should work, and does work for me ... both with an graphic button
(afbeeldingsknop) and grapich element (afbeeldingselement).
Have a look at Tools|Options|OOo Writer| Lay out
The section Show (Weergeven) has check boxes for pictures, drawings and
control elements.
Maybe that makes the difference?
