Hi, I assume the ID is primary key. We need an ID to make sure the one record is different with other. So if You will not have more than one same record. For egsample You have 2 friend with same name James Cook. One is Your college friend and the other is Your working partner. They coincidentally live in the same house with the same phone.
To make the difference between both of them, we use ID (we call it primary key).Same reason with if You have social security number. In the old days the dbase format permit You to make a database without primary key but now it is a must. But still You can use the name as primary key.
