"Start" menu, select "Run", then in the dialog box type "cmd" (without quotation marks) and click "OK" button. In the window that opens type "java -version" (without quotation marks). If you see something that includes the phrase "Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment", you have a version of Java installed. Ideally, you should have Java version 1.5.0_06 installed. If not, then download the version of OOo (OpenOffice.org) with JRE. Hope this helps.
