You should also be able to drag the floating window to the left or right
edge. When you see the box outline pop up showing where the docked panel
will go you can release. (Roughly, when the mouse cursor is at the main
window edge.)

To get it to float again, drag the grey area of the docked navigator
toolbar away from the main window edge.
