Thanks Sigrid,

I'll try out a parallel install. I think the 'security' idea is a good one.

Hi Seamus,

Hi, I'm Seamus Byrne.

I have Open Office V1.1.1 installed on my computer.

I wish to download and install the latest version - V2. I've read
that this can be installed alongside V1.1.1.

But...

Is it better to uninstall V1.1.1 before installing V2?
Or
Is it better to install V2 over V1.1.1?
Or
Is it better to install V2 alongside V1.1.1, and, if so, can I safely
uninstall V1.1.1 later?

I only want to eventually have V2 on my computer. I'm using Windows
XP Pro.

You can use every option you mentioned before. I, personally, prefer to
have version 1.1.5 besides version 2.0.2. At first, this was a "security
feature" for me, because I've installed and tested some developer
snapshots and version 1.1.5 was the version, that I knew, how it
works... Now, I'm using most of the time version 2.0.2 but have still
version 1.1.5 installed.

So, you can see, that it's up to you, what you're doing. You have to
take care only for one point: Install version 2.0.2 in a different
folder to 1.1.1, and everything will be fine.
