Vent frustration
We have been trying to complete a 50 page report. The report is
mostly text with numerous figures.
The Openoffice 2.0 is practically unusable. It hangs the computer,
it aborts, it looses figures (gif images). It does this every 15
to 30 min. It is impossible to use. It make MS Word look wonderful.
OpenOffice series 1 was far more stable. Series 2 is very buggy
giving continuous failures.

Hi
Are you running on Ubuntu OS? If so, I have had numerous problems
with the version of OO that installs with the OS of exactly the
kind of thing you seem to be experiencing. The solution has been to
download OO from the OO website, convert to .deb files and do a
manual install. Also make sure you download and use JRE 1.5.0 and
not 1.4.x.
I have had a fair amount of frustration, but now it seems ok after
doing this. I tested this out on several platforms, ie same version
of OO on Windows, Linux Mandrake, SuSE and I'm sure it's not an OO
issue.

Wendi
