Hi Ed,
Your files haven't gone anywhere and haven't been changed. What's happened is the file association that Windows uses to link your files to MS office programs was changed to Openoffice when whoever installed the program checked boxes to tell the installer that you wanted to open MS office files with Openoffice. You can still open those file in MS office by using 'file / open'. It may help if you use explorer's folder options and uncheck the option to 'hide extensions for known file types'. You'll see that all your word files are still *.doc and all your excel files are *.xls. There are instructions on the www.openoffice.org faq page on how to correct the association problem. Sorry I can't give you a link, maybe someone else on the list has it.

I am not sure how I got this OPenOffice program on my computer but I have a
VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM with it.
Everything I had was MS Office
I iinterface with corporate computers and they are all MS Office
OpenOffice took over all my word and excel files on 2 hard drive..
I CANNOT GET INTO ANY OF MY FILES.
When I found this out, I went into add remove function and deleted Open Office
and now I am upo the proverbial creek (cleaned that up)

You may have a great program here but there is no way I can change what a
corporation uses and if I don't get these file back, I AM IN DEEP CRAP !

How do I get my files back ?
