Thanks. I just now found the flash tutorial, which was not accessible from the links given in the forum. However, last night after several hours of intense study and trial-and-error, I was able to drag-and-drop the table from Calc into Base. Unfortunately, no matter what I tried, the two most important columns in the table (350 rows by 15 columns, not massive by any means but enough to not want to re-enter everything by hand...) are always garbage. They consist of dates. Oddly, the fewn cells with "??" in them (used to indicate unknowns) actually came through intact. Another interesting and frustrating problem is that there are clearly 350 rows, but the "XX of XXX" indicator starts of with "1 of 11" when I open the table, and only increases the count in increments as you scroll down near the end of the indicated range, and never goes higher than 249. Another major problem is that now my data entry/editing form doesn't display any of the data in any of the records. This attempt has exposed several critical bugs, each of which is serious enough to make Base useless. Drag-and-drop is normally painless, and normally is done by working with file system folders and file icons rather than by selecting data in an open file and dropping into one specific tiny area of the target software's open window. The method OpenOffice uses is extremely awkward and counter-intuitive. So, at this point Base is still completely useless to me. Even if I am able to get the table to import with all the data intact, I need to be able to export it in CSV format. This is a regular periodic task with this database, and without a real menu-item-based function the workaround takes far too much time and effort to be feasible. The ability to quickly and easily import and export data is critical to the function of a database. Base is definitely not yet ready for prime time. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
