Thanks, Crystle... and apologies for giving you the wrong name! lol

I have attached the two files - supposedly identical - the one marked for OO directly, the other opened prviously in excel - *not* saved, or anything, just opened, prior to opening in OO.

If you open testexporttoOO.xls - the third sheet - FULL_CATEGORIES is blank If you open testexporttoExcel.xls - the third sheet - FULL_CATEGORIES contains the correct data

very, very strange :o>

Phil:

This list strips attachments for virus reasons.

You need to file an issue, as I mentioned, on the web site and attach them there. Then you can tell us the issue number and we can look at them, as well as the developers can. I don't know what I can do on this one.

Thanks Immanuel,

All that is on the third sheet is numbers - with column headders - no formulae carried over from other sheets, or suchlike.

I've since found that if I open the file in excel - no need to save or anything - just *open* it... it then shows all the data - even the third sheet - in Calc :oS

Weird, but I hope someone may be able to help :o>

Thansk,

Phil:

Does this mean that the original excel file is not made in Excel, but is from some sort of report generator? If so, perhaps that generator doesn't make the file 'up to spec' and therefore OOo can't figure it out.

If there is not sensitive data in the file, it might be helpful to file an issue and to attach the original file (that doesn't open properly in Calc), as well as the one that works 'after opening it in Excel'. They can analyze the differences and tweak the import filters.

Hi,

I have a problem in opening a three-sheet excel file into Calc... The first two sheets open beautifully, but the third contains absolutely nothing!

Quite frustrating as the data on this third sheet is essential to the sftware I'll then be importing the completed document to...

Any ideas on how to get around this?

Thanks,

Phil

Phil:

Can you give us more information about what is supposed to be on that sheet? Some charts, IIRC, have a bit of a hard time importing. If it is just numbers, is some of it marked hidden, or something else?
