I don't know where they are stored, but you COULD (I guess) copy the macro
to a specific document and then backup that document. Then, after
reinstalling, copy the macro back again.

Thanks, Johnny. How can I add the macro to a particular file? I have
looked under Macros and under Insert, but found no way to add the
macro. Thanks.

Well, in 1.1.5 (in Windows 98) I do the following:

Let's say that the file in this example is named Johnny.sxc (in this case a OOo 1.1.5 spreadsheet file, but that shouldn't matter).
Tools -> Macros -> Macro... -> Administrate...
Have a look at the tree structures. In my case my global macros are located in different folders at soffice, for example soffice->Standard. Further down in the tree I can see Johnny.sxc->Standard which is empty unless you didn't put something there before. Now, drag and drop the macros you want to save with your file from the soffice tree, while holding the Ctrl key, to Johnny.sxc->Standard. The Ctrl key makes sure you that copy the macros (and dialogs), not just move them.

Double clicking a folder will show you which macros and dialogs they contain.

I am not sure this worlks the same way with 2.0 and on other platforms than mine.
