This is really starting to tick me off. In recent weeks the list
server seems to have lost the plot. Sometimes my posts appear on the
list within seconds and at other times they can take weeks or never to
show up.
Here's a prime example. This message was received back on my system
within 10 seconds of me posting it. Several hours ago I responded to
posts from other users and the only sure fire way of knowing if those
messages reached the list is to check the archives :(
OK! I will stop bitching and moaning now, but it sure would be nice if
this could be fixed.

The only time that I have issues are when our local outgoing mail server
is down. Or when the whole list is down, it could be local incoming
server or the list itself.
As for missing messages, that would be a concern to me.
Depending on the mail system being used, there may be spooling issues.
Some mail servers don't send mail directly and instantly. Some spool
the mail for various amounts of time that are beyond your control.
Depending on how the system is configured, you can sometimes test it by
sending mail to yourself and seeing if you end up with some different
times for delays.
