  You have two choices here.  The file was likely created with the
OpenOffice word processor.  ODT stands for "Open Document format" and
this is the format that OpenOffice has chosen to use.  (They do not
control it)

Your second  choice is to install OpenOffice on one of your systems and
you will be able to read and edit (convert) the document yourself.  If
you choose this option be sure to tell OpenOffice during the
installation NOT to assume all document types belong to it.  You
probably still want to click on *.doc files and have MSWord come up.

A third choice is to send it to a gmail account and let gmail display it.

Or you can install a MSO plugin, handling odf.
