Hi, I am helping my Mom run a small business selling soaps,
candles, and other homemade items. What I'm wanting to do is create a
spreadsheet that has a database of items: item number, description, On
Hand Qty, Cost, MSRP, and Sale price. That's the easy part.
Next I want to create a separate file that would become the invoice
template. This file would need to have several entry rows and be able
to reference the database spreadsheet for a list of items, either by
item number or by description. Does anyone know if this is possible or
where I could find information on how to do this (What documentation
to download, etc.).
What do you mean by "reference" the inventory?
I recently worked on a project that used a sheet for customers and a
sheet for inventory. Well, the inventory did not really contain the
current inventory, it just contained a list of stuff, the part number,
description, and price... The user would run specific macros to add the
customer information to the invoice and another macro to add inventory
items to the invoice. The macro would cause pages to be added to the
invoice as required.
Perhaps I should be more specific. If I wanted to add an item to the
invoice, I would place the cursor in the row containing the item that I
wanted. Then I would run the macro. Ultimately, this would not help you
on a PDA because it uses a macro to do the dirty work.
And no, It can't be done on the Base program because I need to use
this on a PDA that does not have the Open Office Suite on it. Unless
there is a Palm OS version of Open Office I'm not aware of. Also, this
has to be saved as an Excel file with no problems.
Thank You,
Michael
