I built OpenOffice 2.0.2 and already had Java and windows on my machine. 
Everything went fine. In fact I have now loaded it on my new machine. Java does 
not run unless needed. Right now my machine is sitting at 98% idle. The version 
of 2.0.2 that I down loaded was the one w/o Java since was already on my 
computer.

Maybe your download got messed up somehow.
