Microsoft Office suite (MS Office) is only available from vendors who
sell it. OpenOffice.org (OOo) is a free office suite that is downloadable
for free and is free to use. A license comes with OOo allowing you to
install it on as many computers as you want. There is nothing to buy for
this privilege.
OOo can read most MS Office file formats and write to them also. It
does this very well, but complex documents might not translate well
between these two office suites.
